Human Trafficking: Anambra couple arrested for allegedly selling their baby girl for N1m
The Anambra State government, through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, has handed a couple and an accomplice to the police for alleged human trafficking in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
The couple, identified as Temple and Ndubuisi Nwankwo, were arrested by the police alongside one Ebere while attempting to sell their baby girl for N1million.
It was gathered that the couple was suspected to have sold their other two children, whom they claimed had died.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the media aide to the Women Affairs Commissioner, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the government said the arrests followed a detailed investigation by the community chairman, Mr. Arinzechukwu Azodo, who notified the Women Affairs Commissioner, Ify Obinabo.
