I brought Amapiano to Nigeria – May D
Nigerian singer, May D, has weighed in on the controversy involving who first brought Amapiano music to Nigeria.
A tweep had claimed Davido was the first to bring the music genre to Nigeria two years ago. The claim was disputed by South African DJ Maphorisa, who said that he featured Wizkid and Burna Boy on one Amapiano song three years ago.
Weighing in on the controversy, May D declared that he brought Amapiano to Nigeria and he has awards to show for it.
Tweeting on Wednesday, May D said, “Na me bring Amapiano come Naija and I have awards to prove that. We started the South African collaboration! I don’t like saying sh*t like this but y’all like putting me under the box.”
