ICPC arrests El-Rufai’s doctor over alleged misrepresentation
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Professor Bello Abubakar, the personal physician to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations of misleading the anti-graft agency regarding a medical visit.
Sources familiar with the matter said Abubakar was taken into custody after the commission alleged that he falsely represented that El-Rufai was receiving medical attention at the National Hospital in Abuja.
According to the ICPC, the medical visit, which had been approved under specific conditions, was allegedly used for activities outside the scope permitted by both the court and the commission.

The anti-corruption agency is investigating claims that the arrangement was misrepresented to obtain approval for the visit, prompting the arrest of the former governor’s physician.
The ICPC has yet to disclose further details of the investigation or indicate whether additional charges or arrests may follow.
Neither Professor Abubakar nor representatives of El-Rufai had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
