If El-rufai’s interview is anything to go by, APC has screened out South East from presidential slot
According to a report by Daily Post, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2023 election is expected to come from the southern region of the country.
El-Rufai’s assertions in his recent interview can be regarded as a mere permutation in the guess of testing the waters of 2023, obviously, for self-seeking purposes has he is notoriously known for. No doubt, he is an achiever, but many Nigerians don’t just like his brand of politics which is devouring ideology, loyalty, and perhaps even morality.
The truth is that where the pendulum will swing concerning 2023 is not for El-Rufai to pontificate or determine and therefore, his words should be accepted with a pinch of salt. However, it should also be known that El-Rufai doesn’t say things he cannot defend, he is extremely believable, all the time. His interview has left the northeast in peril as to their quest for the vice-presidential slot. Southwest is in peril as well, as to get the presidency. Southeast has no hope in APC, naturally, and may slow down for Amaechi, Buhari’s new baby.

The mild division in APC now will escalate because of Buhari’s dictations, another dictation by Buhari (consensus) exist. The old man has put APC in jeopardy, with his hand. El-Rufai’s revelations will make selfish pursuit fiercer which will make a unified front difficult. The flood gate of anti-party activities has been thrown open by Buhari’s unstrategic impositions.
Northeast is his home, now, what possibilities are there for their vice presidential slot? How about Tinubu’s southwest presidential slot? These regions have lost it if El-Rufai’s statements are anything to go by.
How APC will resolve her confusion with INEC on the position of chairman is another debacle that can further divide the party. If El-rufai is truly tired of public office and wants to go and rest after 2023 as he claims then he just knocked out Amaechi from the presidential race. What a better time to return a score against Amaechi. On the whole, it is not possible for Buhari not to have an interest in who becomes the next chairman and president, but somebody should tell him how to do these things. His actions are weakening APC.
