Insecurity, marginalization: Buhari plans dialogue with southeast leaders
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, on Sunday revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has resolved to dialogue with southeast leaders over the resentment of the region on diverse national issues.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, participated by the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, disclosed that President Buhari had admitted that dialogue is the way to go to resolve the insecurity crisis in the southeast. Ngige added that the President has also planned to hold series of dialogue with the southeast leaders.
Ngige emphasized that the deliberations on Sunday were focused on the demands of the southeast from the Federal Government, including how the government plans to develop the region to assuage the feelings of the people.
Southeast Governors’ Forum, Ministers in the federal cabinet, elder statesmen, traditional and religious leaders had met on Saturday at Enugu, where they denounced the various groups agitating for Biafra, and also condemned violent uprising, killings and destruction of property in the region and other parts of the country.
The southeast stakeholders had declared their stand with one united Nigeria.
