J.Atete FC 1-0 36 Lion FC
36 Lion Football Club tasted their first of the game of the campaign with a three points hack in the hands of hosts side J.Atete FC in MatchDay one fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL) played in Otu-Jeremi Stadium, Warri.
The hosts put their head up-front in the 23rd minute of play when a low shot from outside the box beat 36 Lion Fc goalkeeper, Nwoke Christian.
Game continued with the Lions roaring for an equaliser, stringing passes with great composure but the host defenders stood tall to deny the Lagos club side any chance of leveling terms.
Orji Chisom missed an opportunity to get Lion’s into the game with a minute to end half time but his effort could salvage in a goal for the visitors.
36 Lion Fc restarted the second half with same spirit like in the first but fell short of idea to break a rock solid J.Atete defense.
Responding to the game, Coach Akinrele Francis said that all hands are on deck in their quest to gain promotion to the elite league.
“It’s a very sad loss. It’s painful and we know that our fans are not happy about it. It’s football. We just have to psyche up our players. We normally get good results away from home, but it was just a bad day in the office. We will work more and ensure we pick points on the road”, he said.
The Lagos-based outfit will host Stationery Stores in Lagos Derby clash in Match day 2 at the Agege Stadium next week Saturday.
