JAPA: 70,000 people allegedly sign up for $5M Trump card
Despite not being officially available, nearly 70,000 people have already signed up for the new U.S. residency programme known as the “Trump Card,” which offers permanent residency in exchange for a $5 million investment.
Promoted by President Donald Trump and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the Trump Card is still in development — but interest has surged since the launch of a waitlist on The card promises legal residency (though not immediate citizenship) and is being marketed as a premium, gold-plated alternative to the traditional Green Card.
The rush of sign-ups comes even though key details remain undecided, including tax rules, country restrictions, and how applicants will be vetted. Lutnick, who has been personally pitching the card abroad, said Trump wants the card to look and feel prestigious — featuring his face, signature, the American flag, and the Statue of Liberty.
The idea was reportedly proposed by billionaire and Trump’s donor John Paulson, and is being positioned as a tool to attract wealthy investors and business leaders, as well as raise revenue to reduce the U.S.’s $36 trillion national debt.
Lutnick estimates that issuing 200,000 of the cards could generate $1 trillion. The website allows individuals and businesses to register their interest by submitting names, emails, and visa categories. Group applications are also allowed.
On Truth Social, Trump celebrated the response: “Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World.” Though it doesn’t yet offer a pathway to citizenship, Trump has said the card could lead there in the future. For now, the programme is drawing strong global attention — even before its official rollout.
