Jos Jail Break: Gunmen not trapped – Prison Controller

Contrary to the report that the gunmen who attacked the Jos Correctional Center Sunday evening was trapped, the Controller of Jos Prison. Contr. Samuel Aguda on Monday revealed that none of the attackers were trapped in the yard.
Aguda said the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, escaped immediately after the Jail break.
“Only the inmates who were trying to escape were in the yard when re-enforcement from the security operatives arrived, but they were gunned down during exchange of gunfire.
“One of the attacker’s was killed along side 9 inmates while 252 prisoners escaped”, Aguda told journalists during a press briefing in his office.
Our correspondent reports that a total of 10 inmates have been recaptured.
