Kwara assembly sacks Lai Mohammed’s loyalist
Kwara State House of Assembly has sacked lawmaker representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency of Offa Local Government, Hon. Saheed Adekeye Popoola,from the state legislature.
Speaker of the Assembly, Yakubu Salihu Danladi, announced this on the floor of the House during Thursday’s plenary.
According to him, the declaration is in line with Section 109 (1) G of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
He pointed out that the constitution is clear as Hon Popoola ought to have vacated after defecting from the ruling APC .
He explained that there is no basis for the lawmaker to dump the APC for another party.
Speaker Danladi submitted that the House has therefore informed the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state of this development for further legislative action.
Popoola, a member of the Lai-Mohammed fragment of the APC in Kwara left the party after the national convention on arch 26.
