Lawan loses out as court upholds Machina as APC Senatorial candidate, Yobe North
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has lost the legal battle to regain the senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress for Yobe North Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections as the presiding judge of the Federal High Court, Damaturu, Yobe State, Justice Fadimatu Murtala, on Wednesday, declared Bashir Machina as the rightfully elected senatorial candidate of the APC.
Machina had contested and won the APC primary held on June 9, 2022 for the senatorial ticket at a time Senate President Ahmad Lawan was contesting for the APC presidential ticket.
The APC presidential primary was won by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; thereafter, Lawan went back home to claim the senatorial ticket but Machina resisted the manipulation by the APC leaders to take the ticket away from him and give it to Lawan who never contested the party’s senatorial primary.
