The Kaduna State Government has disbursed N148.39 million life insurance cover to 47 employees who died in active service.
The state deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe handed over the cheques to some of the beneficiaries on Thursday in Kaduna.
“For us, today is something that is very significant. We try as much as possible to ensure that those who have worked for us reap from what they have contributed, and this is one of such ways,” she said.
According to her, the state is putting in so many reforms to empower civil servants to be self reliant.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Prof. Salamatu Isa said all civil servants on pensionable employment had been covered by group life insurance.
“This is different from death benefit, because it’s only those who died in active service are entitled to this particular scheme.

Also speaking, the state Head of Service, Hajiya Bariatu Mohammed said the payment was for civil servant who died in active service from 2019 to date.
