Magistrate orders housewife to sweep court premises for 5 days
Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel on Thursday ordered a housewife, Hadiza Ahmed, to sweep the court premises for five days for beating her neighbour.
Emmanuel, gave the order following a guilty plea by Ahmed.
“You are hereby ordered to sweep and clean up the court for five days under the supervision of the court’s registrar.
“The sentence will serve as a deterrent to others who do not want to live in peace with their neighnours,” he said
Earlier the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo told the court that Ahmed committed the offence on March 21 at, Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
Leo said Ahmed, without any provocation insulted the complainant, Mrs Farida Musa, which led to a fight.
He added that during the fight, the defendant beat up the complainant to a pulp.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 173 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
