Man charged with assaulting police officers in Ado-Ekiti
A 39-year-old man, Jegede Oluwasina, has been charged with assaulting two police officers during their duties in Ado-Ekiti. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault and breach of peace. The court granted him bail in the sum of N20,000, with a hearing set for November 18.
A 39-year-old man, Jegede Oluwasina, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, facing charges of assaulting two police officers on duty.
Oluwasina, who has no fixed address, is charged with two counts: assault and breach of peace.
Prosecutor Insp. Raymond Osas informed the court that the alleged incident occurred on October 13 at around 9:00 a.m. at the Okesha roundabout in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
He alleged that Oluwasina and accomplices, who remain at large, assaulted Akinyemi Olawale and Adewunmi David, traffic officers attached to the Okesha Divisional Police Station, during their lawful duties.
Osas stated that the assault arose from an argument regarding disobedience of traffic rules and noted that Oluwasina’s actions were likely to breach the peace.

Despite the charges, Oluwasina pleaded not guilty.
His counsel, Mr. Ademola Richard, requested bail for the defendant, assuring the court that he would not abscond.
Magistrate Mr. Olatomiwa Daramola granted bail in the amount of N20,000, requiring one surety of equal sum.
The case has been adjourned until November 18 for further hearing.
