Militants declares war on NUPENG president, gives oil firms ultimatum
Angered by the alleged call by the president of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Igwe Achese asking the Federal Government to engage the service of a security outfit managed by some ex-militants to guard oil facilities in region, the Adaka Boro Avengers yesterday issued a seven-day ultimatum to all multinationals to evacuate the area.
They threatened that “there will be total War across all states in the Niger Delta region” thereafter. The group said the call by NUPENG was meant to cause crisis in the region.
A statement by its spokesman, Gen. Edmos Ayayeib, read: “Avengers to go on rampage, giving Federal Government and NUPENG to immediately ask all multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region to evacuate our territory within seven days. Failure will lead us to go on rampage with all NUPENG workers and oil installations.
This time around, we shall leave no stone unturned. We want all Nigerians to know how we will surprise Igwe Achese on how he wants to cause crisis in the Niger Delta region. His words are a slap to the region’s agitators.”
