Missing N33trn: Oyegun is a mischief maker – PDP

The allegation by John Odigie Oyegun, chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that N33trillion could not be accounted for by the administration of ex-president Goodluck has been debunked by the Peoples’ Democratic Party.

Deji Adeyanju the opposition party’s director of new media, dismissed the accusation saying the Jonathan administration never even had a budget that high. According to him, the total budget under the Jonathan for five years was 22 trillion, so there was no case of any missing N33trn.

“Oyegun says N33trn unaccounted for under Jonathan, but total budget for 5 years under GEJ was about N22trn.” Adeyanju then went on to mock the APC chairman by wondering how the Jonathan administration was able to manage the economy and carry out landmark infrastructural developments like the Kaduna-Abuja Rail, which the APC completed if more than its entire budget was missing.

“If N33trn is unaccounted for, that means GEJ didn’t share money to states from Federation Accounts, GEJ didn’t pay salaries or do anything. “If N33trn was unaccounted for, that means the GEJ Kaduna-Abuja Rail the APC government commissioned was done by miracle & not budgeted for,” Adeyanju queried.

Adeyanju also took shots at Abuja federal high court judge, Justice Okon Abang, who was accused of overreaching his powers by the Court of Appeal which set aside his earlier ruling that sacked Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu. “I hope all Nigerians now agree that Justice Okon Abang’s actions constitute an embarrassment to our judiciary,” he said.

Although the opposition party is yet to comment officially on the matter, in a clear show of approval of Adeyanju’s submissions, the official Twitter handle of the PDP retweeted all the above submissions by the party’s top executive. Meanwhile, Ikpeazu has reacted with great joy to the Court of Appeal ruling on his earlier sack by Justice Okon Abang. Speaking to newsmen at the Government House, Umuahia, on Thursday, August 18, Ikpeazu said the victory will spur him to do more for the people of Abia state.

He thanked God for the victory, adding that he dedicated the victory to the people of the state. He also expressed gratitude to the judiciary which, he said, had proved to be the hope of the common man.
