Moghalu felicitates Obi of Onitsha at 80
The Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr George Moghalu, has described the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, as a towering traditional ruler and a strong bridge through which Ndi Igbo connect to other regions.
Moghalu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the November 6, Anambra State governorship election, made the remark while felicitating Igwe Achebe on the occasion of his 80th birthday and the 19th anniversary on the throne.
Moghalu described the monarch as a highly revered leader and great custodian of Igbo culture.
According to him Igwe Achebe used his knowledge and experience to bring about oneness among the traditional rulers in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
“We are proud of Agbogidi, as an insightful leader who continues to make great exploits in the development of Igbo culture and traditions. I want to celebrate a peacemaker and administrator, who has charted a lasting path for improvement and development of the Onitsha Kingdom, and Igbo nation. His sacrifice, selfless leadership style has made him a great leader.”
Moghalu also congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan, urging them to sustain the Godly virtues exhibited during the fasting period.
He enjoined Muslims to keep alive the spirit of love, brotherhood, tolerance and care that were dutifully demonstrated during the fasting period.
He also urged them not to forget the lessons which the season was meant to teach.
