Mourinho warns Diomande to improve finishing despite Real Madrid goal
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has urged Yan Diomande to improve several aspects of his game, particularly his finishing, despite scoring in the club’s 4-1 victory over Sevilla in LaLiga on Sunday.
Diomande found the net as the Spanish giants secured a convincing win, recording his second goal for the club since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer.
However, Mourinho believes the youngster still has considerable room for improvement and must continue working on his game to fulfil his potential.
Speaking after the match, the Real Madrid manager said Diomande’s ability to get into dangerous attacking positions was encouraging but stressed the need for greater composure and better decision-making in front of goal.

“He still has a lot to learn and several areas of his game to improve, especially his finishing,” Mourinho said.
“He gets into dangerous positions very often, but he needs to learn to stay calmer and make better decisions with his final touch.”
Mourinho also compared the young attacker to Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior during his early years, suggesting that Diomande’s current stage of development resembles that of the Real Madrid star when he was still learning to refine his attacking qualities.
The manager’s comments indicate that, despite his promising start, Diomande will need to improve his consistency and composure in the final third to become a more effective attacking option.
His goal against Sevilla provides another encouraging milestone in his development, but Mourinho’s assessment suggests that the club expects more from the young forward as he adapts to the demands of Spanish football.
With his ability to find promising positions in attack already evident, improving his finishing and decision-making could prove crucial to Diomande’s progress at Real Madrid.
