Muslim-Muslim ticket: Kenneth Okonkwo resigns from the APC
The All Progressive Congress has received a resignation from Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo.
On July 11, 2022, the movie star announced his resignation in a press release that was posted on his official Instagram profile. He highlighted the ruling party’s choice to run a Muslim-Muslim as its presidential candidate in the 2023 elections as a key factor in that decision.
Part of the statement said, “If Muslims could deliberately vote for southern presidents, it is a misconception to suggest that they cannot support a northern Christian vice president.”
“If this is allowed to prevail, Northern Christians in Nigeria will no longer have a political future.” This is in addition to the fact that they failed to uphold their basic duty of protecting Nigerians’ lives and property. Additionally, the nation is in ruins. ”
For the sake of equity, justice, fairness, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, the actor claimed he withdrew from the organization.
It should be recalled that Shettima, a Muslim and a former two-term governor of Borno, was named as Sen. Bola Tinubu’s running partner for the APC’s 2023 presidential nomination in Daura, Katsina State.
