NAOWA commissions secretariat in Jos
By Kingsley Chukwuka
The National President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Salamatu Yahaya has commissioned a secretariat complex at the 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Military Cantonment, Rukuba Barracks, near Jos.
The completion of the projects was to provide working and conducive environments to women and teachers at the military cantonment.
This is even as she applauded the effort of the Chairperson, wife of the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, Mrs Hauwa Sa’id Ali for demonstrating giant strides to see to the completion of the secretariat.
According to her, the completion of the projects has mainstreamed NAOWA’s agenda in strengthening conducive and quality facilities across the country.
Besides, she added that members of NAOWA have already keyed into upholding the tenets of unity and service to humanity.
“The actualization of these projects is a testimony of the importance that NAOWA ensures high quality and diligence by providing a conducive and befitting environment,” she said.
She also commended the past and outgoing Chairpersons of NAOWA, 3 Division, Nigerian Army for completing a skill acquisition center for which was inaugurated last year.
She, however, called on officers’ and soldiers’ wives and their husbands to invest in the education of their children by providing them with qualitative and functional education.
The education investment, according to her, is to sustain and consolidate humanity and the less privileged in society.
Earlier in her remarks the Chairperson NAOWA, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Mrs Hauwa Sa’id Ali, said the concept of the secretariat was derived from the vision of the Presidentof NAOWA which places premium on sustaining legacies and upholding the tenets of unity and service.
According to her: “Since assumption of office as the Chairperson NAOWA 3 Division Chapter, I discovered that we lacked spacious offices and a conference room for the Chairperson and her Principal Staff Officers for the day to day running of NAOWA activities.
“Hence , the idea of building a modern secretariat was conceived which has been commissioned today.
“The construction work is fully completed and the structure is equipped with modern facilities.
“The secretariat has a conference hall and 8 self contained offices for the Chairperson and her Principal Staff Officers. This will go a long way in providing a conducive working environment and a spacious conference hall for NAOWA activities in 3 Division Chapter”, she said.
