Reactions as CBN issues another reminder about old naira notes
As the newly redesigned naira notes continue to circulate in Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has through its official Facebook page issued another reminder to Nigerians that the old series of 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes will not be useful after the 31st of January. Recall that the apex bank had issued a similar reminder to Nigerians a week ago.
The Central Bank of Nigeria revealed that there are 10 days left before the deadline and as a result, Nigerians should deposit the aforementioned naira notes in their bank accounts to avoid any inconveniences.
The Central Bank’s reminder stirred diverse reactions from social media users. Farmer Meminiwu said the new notes are not in circulation, Chris Ifeanyi said the new naira notes are nowhere to be found while Isaac Okorie revealed that banks are saying that they don’t have much of the notes, even in Abuja.
