Nigerian Army sacks soldier officer over raped undergraduate student in Ondo
The Nigerian Army has dismissed a soldier who was accused of raping a 300-level student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State. before the dismissal from the service of the Nigerian Army, the soldier identified as Lance Corporal Sunday Adelola was handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The Police further indicated that the soldier would be arraigned in court next week.
National Daily learned that the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, acknowledged the handing over of the suspect to the Force in Akure, noting that the Police was aware of his dismissal by the Nigerian Army.
The 300-level student was said to be of the Department of Religious and African Studies of the University; she was alleged to be raped by the soldier at a checkpoint in Ikare Akoko two weeks ago.
