Obasanjo disowns statements credited to him on recent meeting with Tinubu
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday disowned certain statements credited to him on the meeting he had with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Dr. Obasanjo in a statement by his Media Assistant, Kehinde Akinyemi, condemned unauthorized reports of what he discussed with Tinubu in private at the meeting, declaring that the discussion at the meeting was “more brotherly than political”.
Dr. Obasanjo berated those issuing statements as insider sources and those crediting statements he never made to him, revealing that Tinubu requested that either side should not make public statement on what they discussed in the meeting.
The statement further read in part: “Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to me statement I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good.”
