Offer alternatives, don’t destroy their means of livelihood, Adamu Garba advice Lagos govt.
A presidential aspirant under the banner of the YPP, Adamu Garba, has expressed reservation to the decision to destroy several motorcycles by the Lagos State Government. The politician opined that the destruction of motorcycles could be counter-productive, it will push many into vices that could be detrimental to commercial cycle operators as well as the society.
Adamu made the statement on social media when he reacted statement credited to chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, signed by Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the director press and public affairs. The statement revealed that in accordance with the enforcement of the ban on okada, the Task Force will destroy the motorcycles in its custody.
While reacting to the statements through twitter, He opined that the destruction of motorcycles may lead to the rise of criminality in the state. He explained that such destruction of means of livelihood would push Okada Operators to the dark side.
His tweet reads; “Do you think you are punishing okadamen by destroying their wealth? You’re pushing them to the dark.
“The best you should have done is to find a way to sell these Okada and refund them their monies and warn them never to buy one again.
