Ooni’s wife, Queen Ashley Ogunwusi, to grace Olofin’s 5th coronation anniversary

Her Majesty, Queen Ashley Afolashade Ojaja Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife and Queen of the House of Oduduwa, is set to attend the fifth coronation anniversary of Oba Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, the Olofin of Isheri Olofin Mole and Adimula of Awori Land.

Queen Ashley Ogunwusi will serve as the Guest of Honour at the dual celebration, which will also feature the revered Aje Olofin Ogunfunminire Festival.

The event is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, at the ancient seat of Afin Olofin Ile Awori in Isheri Olofin Mole, Lagos State.

The celebration is expected to attract prominent traditional rulers, government officials, cultural custodians, community leaders and other dignitaries from across Nigeria.

Organisers said the event is designed to celebrate five years of Oba Bamgbade’s reign while showcasing the cultural heritage, traditional values and economic significance associated with the Aje Olofin Ogunfunminire tradition.

An official media statement issued ahead of the ceremony described the dual celebration as an important platform for promoting cultural preservation, unity and economic advancement in Awori Land and the wider Yoruba nation.

The statement also highlighted the significance of Queen Ashley’s participation, describing it as a reflection of the enduring relationship, mutual respect and shared ancestral heritage between the ancient traditional institutions.

According to the organisers, her presence is expected to further strengthen the cultural ties between the House of Oduduwa and the Awori traditional institution.

The occasion will also provide an opportunity for sons and daughters of Awori Land, as well as friends and well-wishers, to celebrate the community’s heritage and honour the legacy of its forebears.

Preparations for the event are reportedly in top gear, with organisers promising a colourful and culturally vibrant ceremony.

They urged residents, traditional stakeholders and members of the public to participate in the celebration and join in prayers for continued peace, unity and prosperity in Awori Land.

The fifth anniversary of Oba Bamgbade’s reign is expected to serve not only as a celebration of his leadership but also as a reminder of the enduring role of traditional institutions in preserving history, culture and communal identity.
