Osun 2022: Ogunbiyi explains withdrawal from PDP Governorship Primary election
A governorship aspirant for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has withdrawn from the primary election of the party.
Akin Ogunbiyi announcing withdrawal from the race at his campaign office along Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogo-Oluwa Osogbo, explained that he stepped aside because of lost of confidence in the process.
The PDP primary election holds on Tuesday at the Osogbo City stadium.
The withdrawal of Akin Ogunbiyi from the governorship race leaves that PDP with five aspirants for the governorship ticket. The aspirants include Dotun Babayemi, Ademola Adeleke, Sanya Omirin, Dele Adeleke and Fatai Akinbade.
Ogunbiyi explained that his decision to withdraw from the race was due to lack of trust in the process. He was skeptical of bias of the party leadership, stating that he has lost faith in the process.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on 16th of July, 2022.
