Police commissioner Sonubi assures of improved security during yuletide and beyond
Oyo State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodele Sonubi, has assured residents of improved security during the yuletide season, emphasizing a heightened response to criminal activities and urging the public to stay vigilant.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Ayodele Sonubi, has assured the residents of the state of enhanced security during the upcoming Christmas season and beyond.
Sonubi made the pledge on Thursday during a security stakeholders’ meeting held at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan.
In his address, CP Sonubi emphasized that the Oyo State Police Command had always maintained a strong security presence in the state.
However, he stated that the command would intensify its efforts in the final quarter of the year to combat criminal activities, especially during the yuletide period.
“This gathering is to further sensitize and synergize with the people, hear from them, and inform them about the security challenges we have been observing recently,” Sonubi said. “We have been having series of stakeholders’ meetings, but this one is particularly important as we all know the significance of the final part of the year.”
He cautioned that criminals were planning to exploit the holiday period, but reassured the public that security agencies would not allow them to succeed.
“Criminal-minded people are planning, but we, as a security agency, will not allow them to have their way.

Everyone needs to play their part to ensure a safe environment through the yuletide and into the new year,” he added.
Sonubi also highlighted that the Oyo State Police Command would build on the security improvements made since the beginning of the ember months, which had contributed to enhanced safety in the state.
He called on residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity to the police, and work together to maintain peace in their communities.
“By God’s grace, we shall witness a hitch-free yuletide, and God will see us through the new year,” Sonubi concluded.
