Police investigate delivery of live ammunition to First Bank MD’s Lagos residence
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious delivery of live ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director of First Bank, Oluwasegun Adebiosu.
Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the state police headquarters on Monday, stating that detectives have commenced a thorough probe into the incident.
According to the police commissioner, the suspicious package was delivered by a dispatch rider and received by security personnel at Adebiosu’s residence before being handed over to the bank executive.
Upon opening the envelope, Adebiosu reportedly discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed inside. Police said the parcel contained no accompanying letter, message, or information indicating the sender’s identity or motive.
Fatai described the incident as a serious security concern and assured the public that investigators are working to trace the origin of the package and determine the circumstances surrounding its delivery.
“The matter is being thoroughly investigated,” the police commissioner said.
Authorities have yet to establish whether the delivery was intended as a threat, a prank, or part of a broader criminal act. Investigators are expected to review dispatch records, surveillance footage, and other relevant evidence as part of ongoing efforts to identify those responsible.
No arrests had been announced as of the time of filing this report.
