Popular candidate in APC Tinubu might nominate as presidential candidate
Tinubu is still in London receiving treatment after knee surgery, he has been visited by various political officeholders. His kinsmen are anxiously waiting for him to return, Governor Akeredolu even declared yesterday that the South is waiting for his return and decision. But with the looks of things, Tinubu might step down from his ambition and choose a credible candidate like him.
He is likely to choose the candidate that has the experience of a President in Nigeria. Tinubu is likely to choose Professor Yemi Osinbajo as his candidate. Osinbajo has the best qualifications among Tinubu’s allies. Osinbajo is as well respected by Nigerians for his proactive approach to issues of national importance.
We got a whiff of this when President Buhari was on a medical vacation to London in 2017 and the Osinbajo took charge of the country as acting President, in the midst of economic crises. His proactive and hands-on approach was stark in contrast to the President. Every action he took was well thought out decisive. He kicked off reforms at the Ports to weed out corruption and improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
He relaxed Visa rules for tourists and investors and attended an event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s civil war. Largely regarded as a taboo topic. An endearing move that can heal wounds and unite the country. He visited schools in the Niger Delta, mingled in the local market freely. He pledged to make Nigeria a major power, held a meeting with service chiefs in a brainstorming session to discuss a transformation agenda.
Osinbanjo was a breath of fresh air and offered Nigerians a whiff of this nation’s potentials. If we had a well-versed, articulate and smart leadership. With all these antecedents, Osinbajo will be supported by many Nigerians including politicians
