Post-2019 elections: Amaechi, Akpabio hold reconciliation meeting
Two political leaders from the south-south in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday held a reconciliation meeting to enable them unite and cooperate in promoting the interest of the zone in the ruling party.
Festus Keyamo, SAN, Director of Strategic Communications, APC Presidential Campaign Council and Official Spokesperson for 2019, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, declared that “Sunday, April 14, 2019, marked a new chapter of cooperation within the APC family as two front-line leaders of the party from the South-South region, the Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State; a former Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, met each to iron out their perceived political differences.”
Keyamo noted that the meeting, which was at the instance of Senator Godwill Akpabio, was brokered by two chieftains of the Party, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, the Dan Amarna of Dutse, and Festus Keyamo, SAN, APC Presidential Campaign Director of Strategic Communications. Alhaji Danu was identified as one of the Directors of Logistics of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and a long-time ally of President Muhammadu Buhari. Keyamo is also an APC Chieftain from the South-South.

The statement indicated that the meeting which took place at the residence of Alhaji Nasiru Danu in the Asokoro district, Abuja, lasted several hours where both leaders frankly and honestly talked about their various disagreements from their days as Governors in PDP and in the then Nigerian Governors’ Forum.
They also discussed and analysed the performance of the party in the South-South region in the just-concluded elections and identified areas where things went wrong and how to improve those areas in the future.
It was said that at the end, both leaders agreed to close ranks and work in unison for the overall interest of the party in the country.
“They promised to put behind them all previous perceived misgivings between them and to give a positive direction to the teeming supporters of the party across the country,” Keyamo declared.
The meeting was witnessed by Alhaji Nasiru Danu and Festus Keyamo, SAN.
