Presidency 2023: Osinbajo hits Imo to dislodge Lawan in tussle for delegates
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday arrived Owerri, Imo State, to lobby Imo delegates for supp0ort at the party’s presidential primaries for the 2023 election. Osinbajo arrived the Sam Mbakwe Airport into the waiting hands of Governor Hope Uzodinma, including APC State Chairman in Imo, McDonald Amadi, APC state executive members, Imo State government functionaries and party supporters.
The vice president stormed the support base of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, whose Expression of Interest and Nomination forms were submitted by Governor Uzodinma and Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State to the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, to compete for the support of Imo delegates with the senate president who already had the Imo governor as an ad hic campaign coordinator.
Vice President Osinbajo, on arrival, visited the palace of the Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Emma Okeke, to inform the royal father of his intentions.
Thereafter, he visited the APC State Secretariat to deliberate with the Imo delegates.
