Ronaldo opened his account before Nuno Mendes added a free-kick, with the Portuguese captain then doubling his tally to make it three. An Abduvohid Nematov own goal and a late Rafael Leão strike completed the rout and secured Portugal’s first three points in Group K.
The result moves Portugal firmly into contention for a place in the round of 16, with the record-breaking display underscoring just how remarkable Ronaldo’s longevity at the elite level remains.
Having previously scored at the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups, the Al-Nassr forward now stands alone in the annals of the game’s greatest tournament, a record that may never be broken.
