Banana as a fruit is liked by many people in the world. The fruit offers lots of health benefits, along with high energy content
Banana leaves (dried ones and fresh ones) are used as herbs since they offer lots of benefits for our health and beauty. They help cure ailments such as sore throat, cough, common cold, and fever.
Some of the health benefits of banana leaves include:
1. Reduces Fever
Banana leaves contain antioxidants and astringents which are good substances that reduce inflammations, which often take the form of fever. The astringent effect also helps in soothing the unease feeling of fever. Drinking the decoction 3 times a day can to a great extent help in reducing fever.
2. Boosts Immune System
Dried banana leaves are loaded with allantoin, a substance known to boost the immune system accelerate the healing process and also act as an astringent. The presence of allantoin in banana leaves is the reason behind its ability to cure sore throat and fever, which are mainly caused by the poor immune. Even those without these ailments are encouraged to always drink banana leaves decoction or tea at least once a day to boost their immune system to prevent contracting the ailments.
3. Heals Wounds and Skin Irritation
Traditionally, fresh banana leaves are used to cure wounds and irritation. This can be achieved by crushing some banana leaves with a mortar, then putting them on the affected area and binding them with a bandage to prevent them from falling away. It’s important to change the leaves and bandage 2-3 times a day.
4. Maintains Healthy Hair
Extract from Banana leaves help in curing dandruff, maintaining a healthy scalp, and keeping the natural color of the hair, credit to its high allantoin and astringent effect.
