Shehu Sani reaffirms Senators receive N13.5m monthly allowance
A notable human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani, has reaffirmed that senators receive N13.5 million in the National Assembly.
Sani, in a media interaction, revealed that in the Eighth Senate, which he was a member, senators were paid three times in a month, indicating that the payment include the basic salary, running costs, and constituency project funds.
Sani highlighted: “As a Senator in 2017, My Account Was Credited With N13.5 Million Monthly.
“This was separate from the basic salary of N750,000. We are usually paid three times, and they include the basic salary, running costs, and constituency project funds.”
Senator Shehu Sani is the first federal lawmaker to expose the earnings of Nigerian senators which have remained controversial over the years. He was a whistleblower from within during his membership of the Senate president by former President of the Senate, Dr. Bujkola Saraki.
