Shehu Sani ridicules Buhari over change of currency for second time
Senator Shehu Sani has ridiculed President Muhammadu Buhari for changing the Nigerian currency on the two occasions that he is leading the country. Shehu Musa recalled that Buhari in 1984 when he was military head of state, changed the national currency, and is doing it again in 2022, for the same reason.
Though. Shehu Sani did not make further comment, but intuitively, the senator may have been questioning the rational or essence of the decision. Musa on his official twitter handle Senator Shehu Sani @ShehuSani wrote: “He Changed the National currency in 1984; He is Changing the National currency in 2022…and for the same reason.”
A stakeholder, however, explained that “It’s a means to regulate the flow of cash trafficking and cash bribery. Election is close and many who stock/store cash even for elections or for other reasons would regret!”
