Suarez fight with Barca star after loss
- as Barca suffers first league home defeat in two years
Luis Suarez told Gerard Pique ‘do not f*** with me’ after Barcelona’s 4-3 defeat to Real Betis on Sunday. The Spanish champions suffered their second loss in La Liga this season and are now only one point clear at the top of the table.
After the final whistle, several Barcelona players stood in the centre circle and that’s where the brief moment of tension between Suarez and Pique occurred. Spanish television channel Movistar caught Pique approaching Suarez before the Uruguayan said:
‘Now you’re going to f*** me for a pass, do not f*** with me.’ Pique quickly diffused the situation by replying: ‘Well, that’s it.’ Suarez and Gerard Pique exchanged words at full time.
Pique also had words with Arturo Vidal after a mix-up with the Chilean late in the game which cost Barcelona a chance.
Pique told Vidal: ‘If you say ‘mine’ it’s fine, but I have not heard ‘I’ in my life.’
Barcelona were two goals down in the first half before Lionel Messi converted a penalty in the 68th minute. Giovani Lo Celso restored Betis’ two-goal lead before Vidal struck to bring the game to 3-2.
Ivan Rakitic was then sent off and Barcelona fell even further behind as Sergio Canales put Betis 4-2 ahead. Messi found the net in injury time but it was too late for Barca to salvage a draw.
