Suicide: Folake’s death was not caused by lack of a husband or sex – Deceased friend open up
A 45-year-old Lagos Telecoms accountant, Folake Abiola, reportedly committed suicide on Friday at her residence in the Lekki area of Lagos State after drinking a substance suspected to be an insecticide.
A friend of the deceased who spoke to Punch Metro on the condition of anonymity, however, debunked some trending rumours that the deceased committed suicide because of the lack of a husband, sèx, and loneliness, among other things. According to the deceased friend, Folake had romantic relationships with two men in the last seven years but ended them due to depression.

However, she noted that the deceased had been suffering from extreme depression for years, but unfortunately, people who did not know anything about her were posting irrelevant information on social media.
She made it known that the deceased had been saying that she wanted to end it all before she finally took her life, adding that she was a lover of Christ, a liberal giver, and had been buried the same day she died as she came from a Muslim family.
Depression is a fast-killing condition that many people fail to understand. Many people are going through a lot in this country and the world in general, and with this, we need to pay attention to mental health and those people around us.
