Suspect who sold registered sim cards to criminal arrested
The FCT Police Command has arrested 6 suspects who specialise in registering SIM cards with other innocent citizens identities and selling them to criminals.
The suspects, identified as Ndubuisi Okeh, John Jock, Nafiu Tijani, Nasiru Sulaiman, John Njoku and Suleiman Musa were arrested on May 29, 2024 by a team of detectives from the State Intelligence Department
Parading the suspects on June 13, the FCT Commissioner of Police, said the suspects sold the SIM cards to criminals between N3,000 & N5,000
He noted that a total of 1,100 registered SIM cards; registration machines; 2 fingerprint machines & a mobile phone were recovered from the suspects
According to him, “It may interest you to know that 4 different numbers could be registered under a single NIN, hence these criminals employ street sim card vendors to get the details of unsuspecting residents who buy sim cards & register at the same time
The suspects have all confessed to the crime & will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.”
