Suspended chairman detained for killing wife tells own story; police calls for caution
The Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra, Mbazulike Iloka, has been arrested following preliminary investigation alleging he beat his wife Chidiebere to death.
Gov Chukuma Soludo suspended Iloka less than a week after he was sworn as chairman when the incident happen.
Iloka has however denied the allegation.
According to him, she slipped and fell while bringing food to him, hitting her head on a concrete wall.
He has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Awka, Anambra State, under charges of culpable homicide.
Anambra Police command’s spokesman confirmed the arrest and detention, but called for patience until an autopsy repor confirms the cause of death.
