Teacher flogs 19-month-old pupil to death, govt orders closure of school
A teacher has flogged a 19-month-old pupil of a primary school in Delta State to death. The teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, was said to have flogged the one and half years old pupil identified as Obina Udeze last Monday, inflicting injuries and marks on the baby’s body.
The male child was said to have become sick thereafter. The child was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, unfortunately, he didn’t survive it; the boy died on Saturday morning.
In quick reaction, the Delta State Government ordered immediate shut down of the primary school in Asaba after the death of the 19-month-old Obina Udeze.
The teacher who flogged the pupil to death is currently being detained by the police. The Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, revealed that the State Police Command has commenced investigations into death of the pupil.
The Commissioner for Basic Education in Delta State, Chika Ossai, was gathered to have revealed on Sunday that the state government did not approve the private school in question. The commissioner gad said that government sealed the school since the proprietor does not have operational licence.
