The truth about blood types most people don’t know
Most people know their blood type, but very few actually understand what it means, why it matters, who they can save, or the blood types that can save them.
There are 8 major blood types, and each one plays a different role in emergencies, surgeries, childbirth, accidents, and lifesaving blood donations. Some blood types can donate to almost everyone, while others can only match with a limited number of people. One of them is so rare that fewer than 50 people in the world are believed to have it.
In this National Daily News health explainer, each slide breaks down what every blood type means, who they can donate to, who they can receive from, and why knowing your type could one day save a life including yours.
Flip through to see where your blood type falls, learn what makes it unique, and understand why blood compatibility matters more than most people realize.
