TINUBU: Court orders AAC to produce witness in certificate forgery suit against APC candidate
The Action Alliance Party which sued for the disqualification of the APC presidential candidate in 2023 has been ordered to produce its witness to the certificate forgery it filed against Bola Tinubu in June.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu of a federal high court in Abuja issued the order on Thursday.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria Babatunde Ogala is holding brief for Tinubu, while the APC and INEC joined in the suit have not been represented in court.
Tinubu claimed that the foundation for the certificate forgery suit against him was rooted in the 1999 electoral forms he submitted to the then electoral body..
He also cargued that the report of the Lagos State House of Assembly which probed him on the alleged certificate forgery is the main foundation of the fresh suit and hence, has become statute barred.
At Thursday’s proceedings, counsel to Action Alliance which instituted the suit, Mr Ukpai Ukairo, informed the court that he just received the notice of preliminary objection from Tinubu, and the oral would have to be put in writing and served the AAC to prepare for the next hearing.
The judge adjourned the matter until October 2.
