Tinubu’s second term assured – Senate President Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of a second term, dismissing opposition efforts to unseat him in 2027.
Speaking at a special Iftar/Lent dinner organized by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja, Akpabio expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would expand its electoral victories in the next general election.
Addressing party leaders, governors, and lawmakers, Akpabio urged unity among APC members to strengthen the party. “Victory shall be ours in 2027. We will also pray for Mr. President that his second term is assured,” he said.
He also highlighted the recent appointment of a senator to contest the Edo governorship election as a sign of the party’s growth. PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, emphasized the need for party unity, likening governance to a shared responsibility.

Finance Minister Wale Edun also highlighted the administration’s economic achievements, noting progress in reducing inflation, stabilizing the exchange rate, and lowering food and energy prices.
He credited Tinubu’s bold policies for these improvements and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the poor and vulnerable.
The event was attended by top APC leaders, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, governors, lawmakers, and members of the party’s National Working Committee.
