U.S. assures Zelenskyy of more weapons to confront Russia
The United States (U.S.) has assured President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine of the supply of more weapons to confront the Russian forces. U.S. President Joe Biden had last week announced more $800 million military aid to Ukraine.
Apparently, U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, had the mandate to hold a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine in Kyiv to deliberate on the kinds of weapons Ukraine needs to supply its forces to confront the Russian forces.
President Biden listed some heavy artillery weapons provided to Ukraine in military aid to include 72 155mm Howitzers and 144,000 rounds of ammunition, including 72 tactical vehicles to tow 155mm Howitzers, over 122 Phoenix Ghost Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems, and other field equipment and spare parts.
It was disclosed that the U.S. has provided security assistance of about $3.4 billion to Ukraine since the commencement of the military action by Russia on February 24.
President Zelenskyy at a press conference, expressed optimism that the U.S. military assistance would reinforce the Ukrainian forces in confronting Russia.
