Umahi reveals preferred candidate ahead of APC presidential primary
Ebonyi State Governor and APC Presidential contender Engr Dave Umahi on Saturday evening hosted Senate President and APC Presidential frontrunner Ahmed Lawan in Abuja during which he affirmed his support for Senator Ahmed Lawan’s quest to emerge as the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate at the primaries scheduled for June 6-8.
Media adviser to the Lawan, Nasir Abdullahi, in a statement, said Governor Umahi extolled the virtues of humility, teamwork, intelligence and unalloyed party loyalty of the Senate President.
Speaking during the parley at his Abuja residence, Umahi recounted how President Buhari spoke glowingly about Senator Lawan during the President’s recent 2 day visit to Ebonyi State to commission projects executed by Umahi.
“I pray you get the ticket if I don’t get it, because you are eminently qualified to be President of Nigeria”, Umahi said.
While making his remarks, the Senate President said the purpose of his visit was to seek Gov Umahi’s collaboration and cooperation in furtherance of their individual intentions to clinch the All Progressives Congress Presidential ticket at the forthcoming primaries.

Lawan praised Gov Umahi’s execution of infrastructural projects within the last seven years which now makes Ebonyi an epicentre of beauty and development despite the lean resources accruing to the state.
“Indeed Gov Umahi worked assiduously for me to emerge as Senate President in 2019, despite being in the opposition party the People’s Democratic Party”, Lawan explained.
Both political heavyweights reinforced the need to support President Buhari whatever decision he makes on the issue of selecting a candidate capable of winning the general elections as well as keeping the party united and focused.
Senator Ahmed Lawan was accompanied on the visit by Senators Sani Musa, Barau Jibrin and Minister Hadi Sirika amongst others.
