Why I agree with BurnaBoy that 90% of Afrobeats artists have no substance in their music — Rapper Dremo
Nigerian rapper Dremo has agreed with Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy‘s recent comments that 90% of Afrobeats artists lack substance in their music.
Dremo, who is known for his witty lyrics and social commentary, made the comments in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra.
“I agree with Burna Boy,” Dremo said. “A lot of Afrobeats artists are just making music to make money. They’re not really saying anything.”
Dremo said that he believes that Afrobeats artists should be more mindful of the messages they are sending with their music.

“We have a responsibility to use our platform to talk about real issues,” Dremo said. “We can’t just be making music about partying and having fun.”
Dremo’s comments come after Burna Boy made similar comments in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Burna Boy said that he believes that many Afrobeats artists are more interested in making money than in making music with substance.
Burna Boy’s comments have been met with mixed reactions. Some people agree with him, while others believe that he is being unfair.
