Nigerian superstar Burna Boy continues to make waves in the music industry, as he recently secured seven nominations for the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards. The artist has been leading the international scene for Nigerian music, with his unique sound and strong message, earning him numerous accolades across the globe.
The BET Awards announced the nominations on September 8, 2023, and Burna Boy was the surprise artist on the list, with seven nominations to his name. Among his nominations were Hip Hop Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for his track, ‘Sitting’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage.
In addition, Burna Boy’s latest album ‘I Told Them,’ which is his seventh, was also praised, as he was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, and Hustler of the Year.
Cardi B and 21 Savage were the top nominees, with 12 nods each, followed by Drake, who had nine nominations. Burna Boy and DJ Khalid were tied at seven nominations each.
The 2023 BET Awards will be pre-recorded in Atlanta on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and will premiere on BET one week later, on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Burna Boy has been a trailblazer for the African music scene, reaching new heights in his music career. His impact on the industry has been significant, and his latest nominations show that his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
