90% of Afrobeats artists lack substance – Burna Boy
Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has sparked a debate after he said that 90% of Afrobeats artists lack substance in their music.
Burna Boy made the comments in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. He said that he believes that many Afrobeats artists are more interested in making money than in making music with substance.
“A lot of Afrobeats artists don’t have substance in their music,” Burna Boy said. “They’re just making music to make money. They’re not really saying anything.”

Burna Boy said that he is one of the few Afrobeats artists who is committed to making music with substance.
“I’m one of the few artists who is really trying to make music that says something,” Burna Boy said. “I’m trying to make music that makes people think.”
Burna Boy’s comments have been met with mixed reactions. Some people agree with him, while others disagree.
