Mrs. Yetunde Ogunsakin, the widow of the king of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, has described her husband Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin’s final moments before he was assassinated by gunmen who may have been abductors.

According to report, the attackers shot and killed Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, of Imojo-Ekiti, and Oba Ogunsakin, of the Ikole local government area in Ekiti State.

Fortunately, Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba Ikole, managed to flee the scene.

The widow of Ogunsakin described how her husband met her demise, claiming the monarch informed her he was hungry and that she ought to prepare him some food before he arrived at his castle.

The woman said that she called the traditional ruler after hours and was afraid when she did not receive a response.

“He called me when he got to Ajowa to let me know that he was coming, that he was hungry, and that I should make him something,” she said. I didn’t look at the time when I got here, Ajowa, because I knew it wouldn’t take more than an hour. It was approaching close to one hour, maybe not more, and I kept phoning his phone. He did not select.

The story was further enhanced by Chief Niyi Ojo, an Esun Ekiti community leader. “I was shocked when I was called around 4:30 to be informed that he has been attacked by assailants and that he was killed in the process with a fellow Kabieyesi, Onimojo of Imojo.”
