Wike leans towards APC, attends Buhari’s inauguration of Body of Benchers complex in Abuja
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State may have begun leaning towards the All-Progressives Congress (APC) towards the preparations for the 2023 general elections as he is yet to get the expected attention from the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike was absent at the inauguration of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council on Thursday in Abuja but was present at the inauguration of a new complex for the Body of Benchers by President Buhari in Abuja the same day. However, Wike and his allies have earlier declared their withdrawal from the Atiku campaign, insisting on their agitation that the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, must resign for a southern chairman.
Governor Wike was revealed by the Chairman of the Body Of Benchers, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), to have donated N500 million for the construction of the complex.
Other stakeholders present at the inauguration include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola; the Attorney-General of the Federation, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN); etc.
