On one of our recent family travels, one of the girls decided to rent a car and drive in a space she had never driven before. She was trying to get her siblings, grandma, and grand aunt to our lodgings. She missed many turns, and a trip that should have been 30 minutes took over an hour. As they narrated their adventure, I couldn’t help but think about how often we have taken wrong turns.

We are all trying to reach a destination, and most of the time, we put a time frame on our journeys. Some folks start an academic program and decide it will take 4 years, some get married and commit to forever, some travel and say, I will work for 10 years and come home to retire, and many more life commitments. Sadly, sometimes one wrong turn can derail the entire journey. Some people make many wrong turns and are still given grace to complete the journey. Some people make one wrong turn, which becomes the end of that journey, and they must start all over.

Even if an individual makes many wrong turns and eventually has to start all over, giving up should never be an option. Staying focused and determining that “I will get it right one day” should be our attitude as we navigate life’s journey. One wrong turn, many wrong turns, hold on to God and keep the faith that you will make your destination safely.
